ABOUT US
Ballymacelligott GAA Club, just east of Tralee, is built on pride, passion, and resilience. From the early days of the GAA, when local teacher Maurice Moynihan brought the Association to Kerry, ‘Ballymac’ has stood at the heart of the county’s footballing tradition, claiming four County Championships before 1918 and producing players who went on to win All-Ireland medals.
Our club’s story is about more than football. In 1918, as the War of Independence raged, Ballymacelligott GAA players stood not only on the pitch but in defence of their community. The infamous order to “burn Ballymac” was met with fierce resistance and unbreakable spirit- earning the rallying cry: “Ballymac still unconquered.” Today, we honour that legacy. With two pitches- our main grounds and training facility in Arabella, and a well-developed youth programme, Ballymacelligott GAA remains a proud and vibrant club. We continue to grow, grounded in the strength of our past and committed to our future.
