Ballymacelligott GAA Club
notes: 18th April 2004
All in all it was a memorable week for Ballymacelligott
GAA Club with our Senior Team overcoming
John Mitchel’s to take our first two
points in Division 2 of the County League
and our Minor Team winning the Dan Spring
Memorial cup in the Coiste Trá Lí Minor
League A Final. In the Minor League final
Ballymac minors defeated Kerins O’Rahillys
with a score of 2-9 to 1-10. Ballymac seniors
have a very important game on Saturday evening
next when they face their old rivals Beaufort
in the first round of the Intermediate Championship.
Seniors:
The
senior game on Saturday night was an excellent
game of football despite the atrocious conditions.
There was very little between the teams
for ¾ of an hour. The half
time score was: Ballymac 1-8 to John Mitchel’s
1-7. With twelve minutes to go we went five
points u. However John Michel’s work
rate increased and the came back to draw
level. In the last kick of the game Gene
O’Keeffe scored a point from a free
and this secured the two points for us. The
final score was Ballymac 2-11 to John Mitchel’s
1-13.
