Match Report: Ballymac U13s are Tralee/St Brendan’s Div 2 Champions!

28th November 2021 By Ballymac GAA

Well done to our u13 Boys who this afternoon captured the Division 2 Tralee/St Brendan’s District League title with a 2-7 to 1-7 victory over Ardfert after extra time.

Match Report
Our u13 Boys team capped a fantastic Season for them when they won their third trophy of the Year on Sunday last in Ballyrickard with an extra time replay victory over Ardfert in Division 2 of the Tralee/St Brendan’s District League.

Underfoot conditions were heavy which didn’t help matters so great credit must go to both teams for contributing to a most exciting game.
Ardfert had the advantage of the stiff breeze in the first half and led at the break 0-4 to 0-1.
Ballymac played their best football of the day early in the second half and led 1-7 to 0-5 entering the last ten minutes and seemed set for victory, however Ardfert had other ideas and their relentless pressure paid off as they added 1-2 in time remaining to force extra time.
Both sides were tired after the exertions of the normal time so any score in extra time would be critical,Ballymac struck for a goal late in the second half of extra time to snatch victory to see them run out winners on a 2-7 to 1-7 scoreline.
Captains John Leen,Tommy Walsh and Michael Quirke accepted the trophy on behalf of the team from Chairman of the Board John Rice.
Credit is due to both teams for giving us two marvellous games. Both going to extra time with only one score between them at the end of the day.
Team: John Leen,Tommy Walsh, Darragh McMahon, Fionn Enright, Cian Gilroy, Jackson Brosnan, Conor McCarthy,Padraig Reidy, Eoghan Joy ,Jack Collins, Michael Quirke, Liam Rahilly, Graham West, Jamie Tarrant, Sean Martin, Conor Lynch, Ryan Burke, Shane Cassidy, Cathal Carr  and Seadhna O’Brien.
